About Us
Organization History
Since 2016
The Pastoralist Affairs Association of Somalia (PAAS) is a local,
non-governmental, non-political, non-racial, and non-profit
organisation founded by development-oriented individuals
committed to improving the lives of pastoralists, agro-pastoralists,
internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and host
communities.
Operating in Baidoa and other parts of Southwest State and the
larger Somalia, since 2016, PAAS addresses the deep-rooted
challenges of marginalisation, conflict, climate shocks (droughts,
floods), insecurity, child recruitment, and harmful practices that
continue to affect vulnerable communities in Somalia.

sanitation, and hygiene to reduce preventable

Expanding access to quality education, early
childhood care, and vocational training to equip

opportunities for a brighter future.

Promoting women’s empowerment and protecting
girls and women from gender-based violence by
raising awareness, strengthening referral
pathways, and fostering equitable participation in
decision-making.
